Installing and Launching Vision

The Vision installation program lists the installation system requirements, any known installation issues, and any information that changed in the software after final online help was produced. To ensure a smooth installation, confirm that system requirements are met and take note of any issues or incompatibilities prior to installing the software.

Prior to launching Vision, insert the dongle that came with your software into an available USB port. At launch, Vision detects and verifies the dongle.

Vision launches in demonstration mode when a valid dongle cannot be found. A sample file opens automatically, giving you control over four universes; if you edit the file or create your own file while in demonstration mode, up to 100 channels or five fixtures, whichever is less, can be used. The Vision icon displays in the corner of the Scene window viewports when in demonstration mode.

When Vision launches with a dongle, either open or create a scene file. If a file was sent from the Vectorworks program using the Send to Vision command, Vision launches automatically and opens the file.

Vision Application Updates

Vision application updates are called Service Packs, and are considered maintenance releases. Service pack updates are available for download at vectorworks.net/downloads.

In addition, the Vision content library can be updated from within Vision.

To check for and obtain a library update:

  1. Select Help > Check for Updates (Windows) or Vision > Check for Updates (Mac).

  2. The Vision Updater dialog box opens and indicates whether the software and your dongle license are up to date. The number of available universes is displayed. If an update to the content library is available, it is automatically downloaded and applied.

  3. Click Done.
