DesignSeries00008.pngManaging IFC Data Mapping

In a BIM project, you may wish to control whether specific objects and symbol definitions are exported to IFC or whether they are excluded from export. The property sets of specific objects can also be controlled prior to export, so export filtering can occur at the object or property set level. In addition, external data attached to objects may need to be mapped to their IFC equivalent prior to export.

Whether the objects were created in, imported into, or do not yet exist in the file, this procedure enhances IFC export by customizing the objects selected for export, as well as the IFC data mapping for objects and IFC entities before they are exported.

These settings can be saved with the file as a mapping configuration. Selected IFC object instances can use or not use the mapping.

To manage IFC data mapping:

  1. Select the IFC Data Mappings command from the appropriate menu:

  2.     Architect workspace: AEC > IFC Data Mappings

Landmark workspace: Landmark > Architectural > IFC Data Mappings

Spotlight workspace: Spotlight > Architectural > IFC Data Mappings

The IFC Data Mapping dialog box opens.

  3. Assign IFC data to any objects or symbol definitions that do not have any, set objects and property sets that should not export to IFC, and/or define mapping formulas.

  4. Click OK.

The mapping configuration applies to the active settings.
