Changing the instrument label legend

As instruments are placed on the light plot, the active label legend is assigned to them by default. However, the legend can be changed for a selection of instruments.

The label legend can also be changed for an individual instrument by selecting the instrument, and then selecting the legend name from the Use Legend list in the Object Info palette.

Use the Find and Modify command to quickly generate a custom selection of specific instruments and apply the new legend to the selected instruments (see Find and modify).

Changing the label legend properties of a selection

The 2D and 3D label legend properties from one lighting instrument can be copied to a selection of instruments, or all of the label legend properties can be changed for all selected instruments. This is a convenient way of obtaining a consistent label appearance for a selection of instruments. The changes include the position of 2D and/or 3D single label layouts, 3D label view selection, and the flipping of 2D and/or 3D label text.

2. Right-click on an instrument with the desired label positions and properties, and select the command.

The Assign Legend properties to selected dialog box opens. The parameters are initially set to those of the instrument that was clicked upon.

Assign View	When the label legend includes 3D labels, select the view for the labels when displaying the drawing in a 3D view
Assign 2D Location/Assign 3D Location (single label layout only)	Displays the label text box position relative to the clicked instrument; this allows the label to appear in consistent locations for all selected instruments
Assign 2D Flipping
Flip Front & Back 2D Legend	Mirrors the label legend along the X axis of the lighting instrument (a label legend that displays in front of the instrument displays behind it instead)
Flip Left & Right 2D Legend	Mirrors the label legend along the Y axis of the lighting instrument (a label legend that displays to the right of the instrument displays on the left instead)
Assign 3D Flipping
Flip Top & Bottom 3D Legend	Mirrors the 3D label along the X axis of the lighting instrument (for example, a label legend that displays at the top of the instrument displays on the bottom instead)
Flip Left & Right 3D Legend	Mirrors the 3D label along the Y axis of the lighting instrument (for example, a label legend that displays to the right of the instrument displays on the left instead)
Rotate 3D Legend with Z Rotation	Matches the 3D label legend views with the instrument’s rotation

3. Simply click OK to apply the desired label properties to the selection, or make changes and then click OK to apply changes to the entire selection.
