This section only applies to Windows users. The Vectorworks program supports the enhanced version of the Windows metafile format.
Graphics files in the Metafile format can be imported from virtually any program, including AutoCAD and word processing programs.
When you import a Metafile file with the Import Metafile command, multiple bitmap objects are created, which can be edited individually later. When you import a Metafile file with the Import Metafile as Bitmap command, the image is imported as a single bitmap object. The Trim, Clip, and Shear tools cannot be used on the imported bitmap. Bitmap objects imported with these commands automatically have PNG compression applied.
To import a Metafile:
Select File > Import > Import Metafile or File > Import > Import Metafile as Bitmap.
The Import EMF File dialog box opens.
Select the file to import, and click Open.
Alternatively, click the file to import and drag it into an open Vectorworks file.
Graphics files can be exported in Metafile format for inclusion in virtually any Windows program, including AutoCAD and word processing programs.
To export a Metafile:
Select File > Export > Export Metafile.
The Export Metafile dialog box opens.
Set the desired Resolution and click OK.
In addition to rendered design layers and Vectorworks geometry, the Resolution setting affects PDF objects, which are rasterized when exported to Metafile format.
Specify the export file name and destination, and then click Save.
