The Trace Bitmap command traces bitmap objects and picture objects (images which have been imported with the Import PICT as Bitmap command (Mac only). It creates a group of vector lines from the image.
To trace a bitmap or picture object:
Select the image to trace.
Select Modify > Trace Bitmap.
The Trace Bitmap dialog box opens.
Click to show/hide the parameters.
Set the parameters and click OK.
The time it takes to trace the image can vary from seconds to hours. The tracing time required is determined by the image size, as well as the line threshold and collinearity sensitivity settings selected.
