Selecting, Refreshing, and Converting Cables

Several cable commands help with quickly selecting cables, refreshing cable data, and converting cables from one type of cable to another or creating a cable from a polyline.

Selecting Cables

To easily select cables in the drawing:

Select Spotlight > Cables > Select Cables.

The Select Cables dialog box opens.

► Click to show/hide the parameters.

Click OK. The cables that match the selection criteria are selected.

Refreshing Cables

To update all the cables in the drawing with the values from the Object Info palette, resetting the cable data, select Spotlight > Cables > Refresh All Cables. If cable lengths changed, so that a shorter or longer standard cable length is now required, an informational alert opens.

Converting Cables

A polyline or polygon can be converted into a cable, or one kind of cable can be converted into a different kind of cable.

To convert to a cable:

Select the polyline or polygon, or the cable to be converted.

Select Spotlight > Cables > Convert to Cable.

The Convert to Cable dialog box opens.

► Click to show/hide the parameters.

Click OK to convert the selection to the new cable.

Parameter	Description
Select	Choose the type of cable to select
By	Either select all cables of that type, or select the cables according to the parameter or parameters listed
Selection criteria	When selecting cables by parameter, choose the selection criteria from the lists
Add selection to currently selected objects	If objects were selected prior to choosing the command, the selected cables are added to the selection

Parameter	Description
Convert the selected to	Select the type of cable to be created from the selection
Copy parameter field values from	If converting one type of cable to another, select any parameters that should be maintained from the selection and copied to the new cable
Part Lengths	Copies the length values from each part of the selected cable to the new cable
Loom ID	Copies the Loom ID parameter value to the new cable
Color Code	Copies the Tape Color Code to the new cable
Rack ID	Copies the Rack ID parameter value to the new cable
Cable Break ID	Copies the Cable Break ID parameter values from each part of the selected cable to the new cable
Box	Copies the Box ID parameter value to the new cable
