Diametrical Dimensioning Outside Circle/Arc

The External Diametrical mode measures and dimensions the diameter of a circle or arc, and places the dimension outside the object.

To create a diameter dimension outside of a circle or arc:

  1. Click the Radial Dimension tool from the appropriate tool set/palette, and click External Diametrical mode.

  2.     All workspaces: Dims/Notes tool set

        Spotlight and Landmark workspaces: Basic tool palette

  3. From the Tool bar, select a Dim Std (dimension standard).

  4. From the Tool bar, specify where to place the measurement.

  5. To place it to the right of the leader line, click Right-Hand Shoulder mode. To place it to the left of the line, click Left-Hand Shoulder mode.

  6. Click on or within the arc or circle to dimension.

  7. Move the cursor to preview the dimension line location.

  8. Click to place the dimension.
