Changing the Instrument Label Legend

As instruments are placed on the light plot, the active label legend is assigned to them by default. However, the legend can be changed for a selection of instruments.

Changing the Label Legend

To change the instrument label legend:

Select one or more instruments.
Click the Spotlight > Label Legend > Assign Legend to Instruments command.

Alternatively, right-click on the instrument and select Assign Legend to Instruments from the context menu.

The Assign Legend to Instruments dialog box opens.

Select the new label legend for the instruments.
Click OK; the new label legend is applied to the selection.

The label legend can also be changed for an individual instrument by selecting the instrument, and then selecting the legend name from the Use Legend list in the Object Info palette.

Use the Find and Modify command to quickly generate a custom selection of specific instruments and apply the new legend to the selected instruments (see Find and Modify).

Changing the 3D Legend View

The 3D Legend View selection from one lighting instrument can be copied to a selection of instruments, or all of the 3D label legend view parameters can be changed for all selected instruments. This is a convenient way of displaying the 3D label legends for all instruments according to the current 3D view.

To copy the 3D label legend view or change the 3D label legend parameters for the selection:

Select one or more instruments.
Right-click on an instrument with the desired 3D Legend View, and select Assign 3D Legend Position to Selected from the context menu.

The Assign 3D Label Legend Position dialog box opens. The parameters are initially set to those of the instrument that was clicked upon.

Select the check box to change the specific 3D label legend parameter, and then assign its value.

Click OK.

Assign View	When the label legend includes 3D labels, select the view for the labels when displaying the drawing in a 3D view, or select None to hide the 3D labels
Assign Location	Displays the label position relative to the clicked instrument; this allows the labels to appear in consistent locations
Assign Flipping
Flip Left & Right Legend Container	Select to mirror the 3D label along the Y axis of the lighting instrument (for example, a label legend that displays to the right of the instrument displays on the left instead)
Flip Top & Bottom Legend Container	Select to mirror the 3D label along the X axis of the lighting instrument (for example, a label legend that displays at the top of the instrument displays on the bottom instead)
