Add Dimension(s)

Linear and chain

Right-click anywhere on the dimension object, and select the command. Click with the bull’s-eye cursor to set the endpoint of the new witness line(s). The other dimensions in the chain adjust automatically.

If Create smart chain dimension objects is enabled in the chain dimension preferences, a single linear dimension automatically becomes a chain when you add a dimension to it.

For chain dimensions, multiple dimensions can be added using consecutive clicks; double-click to end the operation. Press the Backspace key during the operation to delete the newly added dimensions.

Delete Dimension

Right-click on the dimension line of the dimension to be deleted, and select the command. The remaining dimensions in the chain adjust automatically.

Split Dimension

Splits an existing chain dimension into two chains.

To split the dimension chain into two chains that meet at a witness line, right-click on the witness line and select the command. One of the resulting chains is deselected.

To split the dimension chain into two chains with a gap in between, right-click on the dimension line or the dimension text to be deleted. The selected section of dimension line and associated text are deleted, and two separate chains remain.

Delete Witness Line

Right-click on the witness line to be deleted, and select the command. The remaining dimensions in the chain adjust automatically.

Edit Dimension

Chain

Right-click on the dimension to be edited, and select the command. Adjust the settings in the Object Properties dialog box (see Editing Dimension Properties).

To apply properties edits to all dimensions in the chain, use the Properties command or the Object Info palette instead.

Format Text

All

Right-click on the dimension, and select the command. Adjust the settings in the Format Text dialog box.

Disassociate

Linear, radial, and diametrical

Right-click on the dimension, and select the command.

Properties

All

Right-click on the dimension, and select the command. Adjust the settings in the Object Properties dialog box (see Editing Dimension Properties).

To apply properties a specific dimension in a chain, use the Edit Dimension command instead.
