Locking and Unlocking Objects

Objects in a drawing can be protected with the Lock command so that they cannot be accidentally moved, deleted, or edited. A locked object must be unlocked before any changes can be made to it.

The Object Info palette indicates when a selected object is locked. Depending on the selection highlighting setting in Vectorworks preferences, the handles and/or highlighting also change to indicate that the object is now locked (see Selection and Pre-selection Indicators).

In the Vectorworks Architect and Landmark products, a dialog box displays when a site model is locked or unlocked, allowing you to change the lock status of all applicable site modifiers to match the site model status. Every object that modifies the site model is affected by this setting, including site modifiers made with the Site Modifier tool as well as stakes, hardscapes, landscape areas, property lines. Other objects such as 3D loci, 2D polygons, 3D polygons, and NURBS surfaces and curves can be locked/unlocked with the site model if they have a modifying component and are in the Site-DTM-Modifier class. Site modifiers can be locked or unlocked independently of the site model.
