Estimating circuit lengths automatically

When Auto is selected for the Cable Length in the Object Info palette of a selected circuit, the Calculated Cable Length is estimated automatically. Use this command to enter values to account for expected extra cable lengths that are needed to place circuits into a rack.

To estimate circuit lengths automatically:

1. Select the command.

The Cable length options dialog box opens.

Click to show/hide the parameters.

2. Click OK to calculate estimated circuit lengths in the current layer, accounting for extra cable needed as indicated.

Parameter	Description

Jackfield swan neck	Sets the distance needed to allow extra cable for patch panel maintenance
Equipment tail	Sets the distance of cable needed to allow for equipment maintenance
Rack width	Specifies the rack width
Rack depth	Specifies the rack depth
False floor depth	Specifies the extra clearance required under the rack
