The External tools place an external connection on the drawing. These define the system’s interface with equipment in the outside world; for example, these could be a set of feeds coming from a host broadcaster. These external cables are outside of the scope of the project, but they still need to be included on the schematic drawing.

To place an external connection:

1. Click the appropriate left or right version of the tool.

2. Click in the drawing.

The External Setup dialog box opens.

Click to show/hide the parameters.

Socket Type	Select the type of socket
Signal Type	Select the signal type
Conn Type	Select the connection type
Multi-Circuit	Select the number of circuits
Repeat	Select the number of external connections to create; the connections are automatically numbered sequentially
