DesignSeries00007.pngNBS Chorus integration

Vectorworks Service Select members can integrate NBS Chorus functionality into Vectorworks.

Commonly used in the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia, NBS Chorus is an online specification database dynamically linked to users’ models. By enabling users to associate drawing objects from the Vectorworks model with standardized specifications for various elements and phases of construction, NBS Chorus helps users organize and manage project documentation while staying linked with a Vectorworks model.

After enabling the NBS Chorus web palette and signing in, Vectorworks Service Select members can associate NBS Chorus specifications with Vectorworks objects.

The following Vectorworks objects can be associated by style:

        Wall

        Column

        Table and chairs

        Round wall

        Plant

        Utility cabinet

        Slab

        Base cabinet

        Workstation counter

        Door

        Desk

        Workstation panel

        Window

        Shelving unit

        Workstation pedestal

The following Vectorworks objects can be associated by class:

        Stair

        Structural member

        Landscape area

        Simple stair

        I-beam

        Hardscape

Use the NBS Chorus web palette to sign in to the NBS Chorus website and associate specifications with Vectorworks objects. For more information about using the NBS Chorus interface, see the NBS Chorus website.

Internet access is required.

To enable the NBS Chorus web palette:

1.      Select the command.

A message opens stating that enabling the NBS Chorus web palette requires Vectorworks to restart.

2.      Click Restart.

Vectorworks restarts, the NBS Chorus web palette opens in the workspace, and the Window menu displays the Web Palettes > NBS Chorus command. The command toggles the palette display.

The supported objects with a style, or those associated by class, automatically correspond to an NBS specification; Vectorworks automatically determines whether an object should be associated by style or class. Objects that are not supported by either style or class are associated by the individual object. If a selection is ambiguous, the Associate with Model dialog box opens to specify the desired association.

When a Vectorworks style, class, or object is associated with NBS Chorus, Vectorworks stores the information about the association. All existing and future objects that use the style or class are automatically associated. A read-only record named “NBS Chorus Properties” is available on the Object Info palette’s Data tab for all objects having an association. The record can be used with worksheets and data tags (see Worksheets and Using data tags). If you delete an associated style or class, Vectorworks notifies NBS Chorus to delete the association.

If NBS Chorus is no longer in use, the palette can be hidden (disabled).

To disable the NBS Chorus web palette:

1.      Select the command.

A message opens stating that disabling the NBS Chorus palette requires Vectorworks to restart.

2.      Click Restart.

Vectorworks restarts, and the Web Palettes > NBS Chorus command is deleted from the Window menu.
