The following section summarizes common causes of startup and authentication problems on the server or the client machine.
● Are you logged in with a non-administrator account?
Administrator rights are required for installing and running the Vectorworks server software. If you are logged in as a user, log out, and then log back in as an Administrator.
● Are any restrictions blocking access to needed folders?
To use the system, Read/Write (full control) access must be enabled here:
Windows: C:\ProgramData\Vectorworks Site Protection
Mac: /Library/Application Support/Vectorworks Site Protection/
and the Vectorworks installation folder for any account.
● Are the time settings out of sync between the server and a client?
A large difference between the time stamp of the server and the client can lead to authentication problems.
● Are the same port numbers set in the server license file and in the client login settings?
Normally, use the default value, 5053.
● Did you enter the correct IP address in the Login Settings dialog box?
Check the IP address of the server machine, and correct it if needed.
● Is anti-virus software or an operating system setting interfering with the server or client?
Verify the settings of your security software. Firewall settings may require adjustment.
