Creating loci

A locus is a reference point that is used to draw and measure objects. Loci do not print. Loci can also be used when editing symbol definitions or groups, to set a master snap point location for the symbol instance or group.

Turn on Snap to Objects from the Snapping palette to snap to loci (see Object snapping).

The 2D Locus tool places a 2D locus in a drawing. Because they are merely movable reference points, loci cannot be reshaped or resized.

To place a 2D locus:

1.      Click the tool.

2.Click to place the locus.

To set the default properties, double-click the tool to open the object properties dialog box. Set the parameters. The properties can be edited from the Object Info palette.

Shift+0 (zero)

The 3D Locus tool places a snappable 3D locus or reference point onto the drawing. Like 2D loci, they are reference points. They can be moved, but they cannot be reshaped and they do not print.

To place a 3D locus:

1.      Click the tool.

2.Click to place the locus.

The locus is placed on the working plane unless it is snapped to an object. To set the default properties, double-click the tool to open the object properties dialog box. Set the parameters. The properties can be edited from the Object Info palette.
