Irrigation Settings |
Design Suite: AEC > Irrigation Landmark: Landmark > Irrigation |
Prior to beginning an irrigation design, set up the default irrigation settings. The irrigation settings apply to the current file.
Click Reset to return all irrigation settings to their default values.
To specify the irrigation settings:
Select the command
The Irrigation Settings dialog box opens.
The unit and precision settings here override the Units specified in the document settings, and apply only to the irrigation components of the drawing. Specify the unit and precision value for the size (small dimensions of components, such as pipe diameter), distance (measurements for larger items such as throw distance), angle, pressure, flow rate, and velocity measurements. For any of the units of measurement except the angle, a custom unit can be specified; see Creating a custom unit system.
Click the Pipes/Tubing tab.
Click to show/hide the parameters.Click to show/hide the parameters.

Description |
Pipe Sizing |
|
Pipe Additional Loss Factor |
When using the Size Pipes command to set pipe sizes, enter an additional loss percentage to account for typical pressure losses due to components such as fittings. This additional factor is added to the calculated pressure loss value for the pipes. |
Max Outlet Pressure Variation |
When using the Size Pipes command to set pipe sizes, sets the allowable pressure variation between the first and last outlet in a line of lateral pipes |
Main Line/Lateral Line |
Each tab contains the default information for main line pipes and lateral line pipes |
Default Pipe Type |
Select the pipe type to be used for the majority of the pipes in the project |
Maximum Velocity |
Indicates the maximum allowable velocity for the pipes in the system; pipes must not exceed this set velocity |
Default Trench Depth |
Specifies the default depth for burying the system’s pipes, for informational purposes |
Default Sleeve Diameter |
Sets the default pipe sleeve diameter for the project |
Sizing List |
When using the Size Pipes command to set pipe sizes, indicates the pipes available for use in the irrigation system. Pipe sizes with a check mark in the Use column are available for use by the command if applicable. The selection made in the Default Pipe Type list determines which pipe sizes in the Sizing List display as available, or, if blank, not available. The list is also used by the Pipe tool to size pipes, when the Min Diameter Not Exceeding Velocity Limit option is selected. |
Use All |
Places a check mark in the Use column for all pipe sizes |
Use None |
Removes the check mark from the Use column for all pipe sizes |
Drip Tubing |
|
Default Pipe Type |
Select the pipe type to be used for the majority of the drip tubing in the project |
Default Trench Depth |
Specifies the default depth for burying the system’s drip tubing, for informational purposes |
Click the Zoning tab.
The settings on this tab apply to design zones (see Creating design zones). Select the zone numbering method, and then choose the classes for identifying overlapping coverage or areas without any coverage.
Click to show/hide the parameters.Click to show/hide the parameters.
Parameter |
Description |
Zone ID Numbering System |
Specifies the method for automatically numbering the Zone ID parameter for design zones. A numeric or alphabetic method can be selected. |
Coverage Analysis - coverage spray arc/pattern class |
Assigns classes to the possible overlapping coverage situations for outlet spray patterns/arcs, for easy identification when performing a coverage analysis |
No Coverage |
For areas of the design zone where there is no spray pattern/arc coverage, select a class from the list of classes present in the drawing, or create a new class |
One - Four |
For each spray pattern/arc coverage situation, select a class from the list of classes present in the drawing, or create a new class. “One” coverage class indicates that an area is covered once, “Two” indicates one overlapping area, and so on. |
Click the Classing tab.
The settings on this tab control whether the various irrigation objects, and in some cases, sub-objects, are automatically assigned to classes, and assign the class names to the objects. The assigned classes are created in the file as the objects are added.

Description |
Automatic classes for irrigation objects |
|
Use |
A check mark in the Use column indicates that the irrigation object will be assigned to the indicated class. Either click in the Use column, or select the Use This Class For Irrigation Object option for the selected object. |
Irrigation Object |
Lists the various types of irrigation objects that can be created by the irrigation tools; select a row to edit the information |
Class |
Displays the class assigned to the irrigation object. Suggested class names are provided, based on the standard selected in Standard naming. |
Selected Item |
|
Use This Class For Irrigation Object |
Specifies whether to assign the selected irrigation object type to its designated class; this option is identical to the Use column check box |
Class |
For the selected irrigation object type, select a class from the list of classes present in the drawing, or create a new class |
Click the Options tab.
Select whether to Auto calculate the network. When this setting is enabled, the irrigation network calculations (pressure, flow, and other values) update automatically after any changes, and the Object Info palette displays the most recent results. For complex drawings, the setting can be disabled, particularly during the design development stage. When the option is deselected, the values displayed in the Object Info palette may be outdated. To update the irrigation network calculations at any time, select Landmark > Irrigation > Recalculate.
