Updating viewports

Changes that affect the appearance of a viewport are automatically updated for a wireframe viewport. However, if changes require the viewport to be rendered again, the viewport will be displayed as an out-of-date viewport; see Viewport status.

If a layer with an out-of-date viewport is printed, a message prompts you either to print the viewport as an out-of-date viewport or to update the viewport before printing.

Some kinds of viewports and render modes allow you to continue working while the viewports render in the background. See Rendering in the background for more information.

To update viewports, do one of the following:

Select View > Update Selected Viewports, or View > Update All Viewports.

Click Update from the Object Info palette of selected viewports.

Right-click on the viewport, and select Update from the context menu.

With one or more viewports selected from the Viewports tab of the Navigation palette (Vectorworks Design Suite product required), select Update from the Utility menu. See The Navigation palette.

Canceling viewport updates

Viewports that are being rendered in the background or waiting in the render queue can be canceled.

To cancel viewport updates, do one of the following:

Select View > Cancel All Viewport Updates.

Select Cancel Update from the Object Info palette of selected viewports.

With one or more viewports selected from the Viewports tab of the Navigation palette (Vectorworks Design Suite product required), select Cancel Update from the Utility menu. See The Navigation palette.
