Editing elevation benchmarks

To edit an elevation benchmark style, see Editing plug-in object styles.

To edit one or more elevation benchmark objects:

To access all editing options, select the object and edit the settings from the Object Info palette. For a styled object, you can use the Style list options to replace the style or convert the object to be unstyled if necessary.

If elevation benchmarks overlap, two settings in the Object Info palette can improve readability:

Use leader offset allows you to offset the leader line

Allow text objects to be moved allows you to move the elevation benchmark text, leaving the marker in place

To edit the layout, do one of the following:

Click Edit Marker Layout from the Object Info palette

Right-click the object and select Edit Marker Layout

Double-click the object and select the option to edit the layout

If your benchmarks show elevation above sea level, you can update the Project Elevation in the document setup to update all benchmark objects. (Architect or Landmark required)

When using the Reshape tool, also select related elevation benchmark objects, to maintain their position relative to the objects being reshaped.

Double-click editing shortcut

By default, when you double-click an elevation benchmark object, a dialog box opens, to select whether to edit the settings or layout. To improve your workflow, skip the dialog box and always edit the same option.

To set a double-click editing shortcut:

Right-click on an elevation benchmark in the drawing and select Edit from the context menu.

The Select Edit Method dialog box opens.

From the Double Click list, select whether a double-click will open the Select Edit Method dialog box, edit the marker layout, or open the Elevation Benchmark Settings dialog box.
