Project sharing best practices
Everyone sharing a project must use the same version of Vectorworks.
You must be running Vectorworks 2021 (Service Pack 4) or later to share the project with Vectorworks Cloud Services.
Vectorworks does not support using project sharing with a virtual machine.
When creating the project file, ensure that you have full read, write, delete, and rename permissions to the project folder, subfolders, and project file.
When sharing the project in a network folder, don't use a mixture of SMB and AFP protocols—use one or the other. Also, it's better to enforce the connection protocol on the server side.
When sharing the project folder in Vectorworks Cloud Services, use the "Sync and Edit" permission.
Once users have created working files from the project file, don't rename the project file, move it to a different folder, or rename the folder. Never make copies of a project file.
Save your working file to your local hard drive, not to cloud storage or a network.
When you open a working file connected to a project file shared on the cloud, you must have an active internet connection, and the desktop client for the file sharing service must be running.
Once you create a working file, it's recommended that you continue using it until the project is complete. You can create multiple working files for a given project file (with different names); however, any given layer or object in the project can be checked out to only one working file at a time.
