Send your drawing file to AutoTURN Online for analysis to determine if the design has enough room for vehicle circulation. Once a file is sent to AutoTURN Online, the Vectorworks file and the AutoTURN Online drawing are linked, to easily exchange data and open associated files in the future.

If the Vectorworks file contains a polygon or polyline that determines the path for a path follow simulation, join all portions of the path poly into a single object with the Compose command before uploading the file. Other linework that represents a building or even a curb does not need to be joined.

To send your drawing to AutoTURN Online:

If you are not logged in to AutoTURN Online, start by Logging in to AutoTURN Online.

If you will be designating objects for uploading based on visibility, selection, or layer and class assignment, set the visibility, select the objects, or assign the objects to the appropriate layers and classes.

Select the command.

The Send Design to AutoTURN Online dialog box opens.

Send to AutoTURN Online

Determine if the file you are sending to AutoTURN Online is a new file, or whether you have already uploaded this file and you would like to replace the existing one

Create a new drawing

Select this option if this file has never been sent to AutoTURN Online, or to create a new file on AutoTURN Online (this would be a useful way of trying the same simulation with several different vehicles)

Drawing name

Enter an identifying name for the file; the name of the Vectorworks file displays by default

Replace an existing drawing

AutoTURN Online saves information for previously uploaded drawings

Drawing name

Select the file from the list of previously uploaded files

Open in AutoTURN Online

If you are unsure about the name of any of the drawings in the list, select one and click Open in AutoTURN Online to view the drawing

Send background image

Sends a snapshot image of the Vectorworks drawing to AutoTURN Online along with the selected objects, for reference as an illustrative representation of the drawing

Update objects before generating the image

Automatically resets plug-in objects that require an update (such as title block borders) before sending the background image

Send objects

Sends a linework representation of the specified objects; no properties or attributes are sent to AutoTURN Online, so the appearance of the objects in the browser window may not match the Vectorworks drawing.

To avoid performance issues, send only the objects that are necessary for the simulation, such as potential vehicle paths and boundary objects. Up to 30,000 objects can be sent.

All 2D polys

Uploads all layer plane polygons and polylines; once online in AutoTURN Online, all “polys” are converted to polylines

Only selected objects

Uploads a linework representation based on a Top/Plan view of currently selected objects, along with selected polygons and polylines

All visible objects

Uploads a linework representation based on a Top/Plan view of all objects set to visible (in the layer and class visibility settings from the Organization dialog box or Navigation palette), along with visible polygons and polylines

All objects in layer and class

Uploads a linework representation based on a Top/Plan view of objects, polygons, and polylines in both a selected layer and a selected class

Layers and Classes

Opens the Objects on Layer and Class dialog box, for selecting the layer and class of objects and polys to send to AutoTURN Online.

The Design Layers and Classes in the file are listed. Objects in layers and classes with a check mark in the Use column will be sent to AutoTURN Online.

The buttons under the lists conveniently select layers or classes for you. Choose the one with the most relevant selection, and then manually click in the Use column to tailor the selection.

Click All to place a check mark for all layers or all classes.

Click All Visible to place a check mark for all layers or classes set to Visible.

Click None to deselect all layers and classes

Click OK.

The Uploading to AutoTURN Online dialog box displays the progress of the upload.

The AutoTURN browser window opens, for Working with AutoTURN Online.

When finished with the analysis, either click Close and Get Analysis or Close to return to the Vectorworks drawing.
