Parameter |
Description |
Process On |
Select whether to process the export on your local computer or on Vectorworks Cloud Services. Processing on Vectorworks Cloud Services is available only with a subscription or as a benefit of Vectorworks Service Select. |
File Format |
Select which type of Revit file to export to: .rvt: Exports to a Revit project file as individual objects .rfa: Exports to a Revit family file as a single object |
File Version |
If Process On is set to Vectorworks Cloud, select which version of Revit to export to. When the export is processed on the local computer, the most recent Revit version is always used. |
Export Objects |
Lists the types of Vectorworks objects that can be exported from the file. For each type to export, click to place a check mark in the Create column. You can specify the desired Revit Element to create for each type here, or use the Export as setting below the list. At least one object type must be selected to export. |
Export as |
For the selected rows in the Export Objects list, specifies what type of Revit element to export. Some object types can be exported as native Revit objects/families; every object type can be exported as Direct Shape objects. |
Export textures |
Exports Vectorworks textures with the objects |
Select the export options.
Specify the export file name and location. For the cloud processing option, the destination folder must be within the Vectorworks Cloud Services folder or an integrated Dropbox folder.
The cloud job status displays on the Vectorworks Cloud Services desktop app and web portal. See the online help for Vectorworks Cloud Services to create automated processing tasks for collaborative workflows.
If you exported walls, floors, or extrudes as native Revit objects (not using the Direct Shape option), you must reset the objects in Revit to move them to the appropriate place in the project. Instructions are provided in a sheet in the exported .rvt file titled "Reset instructions."
Export results
Textures and some Vectorworks objects can be exported as native Revit elements and families, although some details may be different. The following table describes the Revit elements that will be exported for various Vectorworks objects.
Vectorworks object |
Revit element exported |
Door |
Door and door family Exported door geometry can be inserted into walls, but the door will not have editable parameters. |
Extrude |
Extrusion Only available for extrudes made from closed, simple polygons. |
Slab |
Floor and a floor type family Each slab component exports as a structure layer with thickness, material, color, and texture. |
Symbol |
Generic model family Only available for symbols that aren't part of another object, such as a symbol, parametric object, wall, etc. |
Texture |
Material If an object has no texture or has a texture with a color shader, the material will have the color of the object or the shader. Texture mapping may not look as expected. |
Wall with arc or linear path |
Arc wall or Basic wall, and a wall type family Each wall component exports as a structure layer with thickness, material, color, and texture. Wall styles export as wall types. Walls will not be joined or have holes. |
Window |
Window and window family Exported window geometry can be inserted into walls, but the window will not have editable parameters. |
