Countertop backsplashes
Creating Backsplashes
Backsplashes can be made a part of the countertop or a separate part. There can only be one type of backsplash for each countertop.
To add a backsplash to a countertop:
On the Countertop Preferences dialog box General pane, select a Backsplash Profile.
Draw a countertop.
With the countertop selected, click Edge Treatment from the Object Info palette.
In the Edge Treatments dialog box, select the edge to add to the backsplash; the edge highlights in the drawing to ensure the correct edge is selected.
Select a Separate Backsplash or Integrated Backsplash Treatment.
The specified backsplash is added to the countertop.
Editing Backsplashes
Backsplashes are 2D extrudes that can be edited to reshape their outer edges or to add holes, such as for electrical outlets. Holes can be created in a backsplash by adding extrudes or by creating 3D modifier objects cut into the backsplash.
To edit a backsplash:
Right-click on the countertop and select Edit Backsplash from the context menu to enter object editing mode.
Add 2D geometry to the vertical plane and extrude through the backsplash; alternatively, create a 3D modifier object and place the object where the cut is desired.
Click Exit Backsplash Modifiers to return to the drawing.
