Importing resources

Use the import function of the Resource Manager to import one or more resources or resource folders from any file to the active file, without opening the source file.

You can also directly import the contents of files from other file formats as symbol definitions (see Importing file contents as symbol definitions).

To import resources or resource folders:

From the Resource Manager’s file browser pane, select any file other than the active file.

Select one or more resources or resource folders to import.

Right-click on the resource/folder, and select Import from the context menu.

The Import Resource(s) dialog box opens.

Description

Preserve folder hierarchy

During import, maintains the same folder structure the imported resource had in its source file

Select destination folder

Allows you to specify a location in the active file using the destination list below

Destination list

Displays the active file and any folders that match the selected resource type. If Select destination folder is selected, do one of the following:

Select the file name to put the resource at the root level.

Select any existing folder to put the resource in that folder.

Click New Folder to create a new folder in the active file.

New Folder

Creates a new folder in the active file

Don't show this dialog when the active document has no resource folders of the current type

If the active file has no resource folders, select this option to hide this dialog box when you import resources or resource folders by dragging them into the drawing in the future

If the active file already contains a different resource with the same name, you are prompted to resolve the Resource name conflict.

Drag and drop importing

A fast way to import is to simply drag and drop one or more resources from any file or folder to the active file in your Open Files list.
