LandmarkReshaping plant clusters

For multi-plant placement options, edit the polyline defining the plant with the Reshape tool; the plant placement previews and automatically adjusts to fit the new shape. Plants placed with Poly-Vertex Placement mode have an additional polyline display control, which doesn't move the plants but allows you to change the polyline between plants.

To convert single plants into a cluster, or a cluster into individual plants, see Modifying plant clusters.

To reshape plant groupings, do one of the following:

Select the plant grouping and click the Reshape tool from the Basic palette.

Right-click on a plant instance; select Edit from the context menu, and then click Path to activate the Reshape tool.

Reshape the polyline that defines the plant cluster as described in 2D reshape modes.

To edit the plant polyline:

With a plant group placed with Poly-Vertex Placement mode selected, do one of the following:

Click Edit Polyline Display in the Plant View Effects section of the Object Info palette.

Double-click the plant group, or right-click it and select Edit, and then select Plant Polyline from the Edit Plant dialog box.

Object editing mode opens, with the Plant Polyline Edit Tools tool set; in addition to the Edit Plant Polyline tool, the Pan and Zoom tools are available for navigation.

Click the Edit Plant Polyline tool and click the modes and the polyline as needed to remove and add segments or the entire polyline. Either click the first plant again at the end to close the polyline, or double-click a plant to end the polyline. For a large or complex plant grouping, click Auto Complete mode to ensure all plants are connected to the polyline.

Each plant can have no more than one incoming and one outgoing segment of polyline. You can only connect plant center to plant center, and no extra corner vertices can be created.

If you previously added vertices when reshaping the plant polyline, the vertices will be visible in object editing mode, but they can't be edited. Removing a segment or polyline also removes prior reshaping, so it is best to reshape the polyline after editing the display.
