There are two ways to create automatically bounded slabs from existing walls: the Picked Walls mode and the Inner Boundary mode. Either mode can be used to create a slab from a closed set of connected walls; however, only Picked Walls mode can be used for Creating slabs with both automatically bounded and manual edges.

To create an automatically bounded slab within a selected set of walls:
1. Click the tool and mode.
2.Do one of the following:
● Click Slab Style on the Tool bar to select a resource from the Resource Selector.
● Click Preferences to open the Slab Preferences dialog box and specify the tool’s default parameters. See Slab preferences.
The parameters can be edited later from the Object Info palette.
3.Click each wall that forms the wall set and press Enter, or click the check mark button on the Tool bar.

To create a slab within a closed set of visible walls:
1. Click the tool and mode.
2.Do one of the following:
● Click Slab Style on the Tool bar to select a resource from the Resource Selector.
● Click Preferences to open the Slab Preferences dialog box and specify the tool’s default parameters. See Slab preferences.
The parameters can be edited later from the Object Info palette.
3.Click in an open area of the drawing that is bounded by walls; the walls must be visible, joined together, and on layers that have the same layer scale as the slab layer.
