Editing GDTF data

Open the GDTF Fixture Builder directly in Vectorworks to edit GDTF lighting devices in the drawing. (Internet access is not required.) When saving a device in the Fixture Builder, the associated .gdtf file is updated, along with each instance of the device in the drawing. This is a local update to the .vwx file; it does not affect the device on the GDTF Share. The .gdtf file is saved with the .vwx file.

To update a GDTF lighting device:

Select a single device with a specified GDTF Fixture Mode.

Click Edit GDTF Data on the Object Info palette. The associated .gdtf file opens in the Fixture Builder while Vectorworks stays open in the background.

If the GDTF device is not properly configured, a list of errors displays. See the GDTF Help for more information about creating a valid device.

Edit the device in the Fixture Builder.

Selected .png files do not scale automatically. All other functionality of the online Fixture Builder is present.

When the edits are complete, click Save to update the device.

An alert opens, confirming that you want to update all lighting devices of this type in the drawing. Click OK to update the .gdtf file and all associated devices, and to close the Fixture Builder.
