Direct modeling with the Push/Pull tool

Tool set

3D Modeling

The Push/Pull tool interactively reshapes planar and non-planar faces, creating bosses (protrusions) or cutouts on a solid, a 2D planar object, a 3D polygon, or NURBS curve by adding or subtracting volume. The volume is created or subtracted by doing one of the following:

Extruding a planar face or shelling a non-planar face in Extrude Face mode

Including all the geometry present on a face in Move Face mode

Extruding or shelling a NURBS curve (or group of closed, non-intersecting NURBS curves) in Sub-Face mode

Extrude Face

Selects the face of a solid, a 2D planar object, a 3D polygon, or NURBS curve, to add to or subtract volume, creating perpendicular faces

Move Face

Extends the planar face of a solid, adding or subtracting the face along with any geometry present on the face

Selects a curve or group of curves to add to or subtract volume from a solid

To preserve the primitive profile geometry of an extrude, right-click on the extrude and select Edit from the context menu. See Object editing mode.

Many 2D planar objects can be extruded immediately after they are drawn, using Push/Pull mode and Push/Pull Combine mode of the tools used to create them. See Push/Pull mode of planar tools.
