Add an elevation benchmark to a design layer, or to the annotation space of the following viewport types:
Sheet layer
Vertical section (sheet layer only)
Interior elevation (sheet layer only)
To add an elevation benchmark:
If the benchmark will show elevation above sea level, select File > Document Settings > Document Setup and enter the Project Elevation. This value can be used by all elevation benchmarks in the document. (Architect or Landmark required)
Click the tool and select the desired leader line mode.
Do one of the following:
Click Style on the Tool bar to select a resource from the Resource Selector.
Click Preferences to open the Elevation Benchmark Preferences dialog box and specify the tool's default parameters; see Elevation benchmark settings. The parameters can be edited later from the Object Info palette.
Select an appropriate Benchmark Datum from the Tool bar, depending on how you want to calculate the elevation. If you select <Story> or a story level as the datum (Architect or Landmark required), the elevation benchmark object is linked to that elevation; see Elevation benchmarks and stories. Enter an Offset if the elevation being marked is above or below a story level.
Depending on the selected mode, place the elevation benchmark as follows:
If the marker will have a leader, click twice, to place the elevation benchmark and the end of the leader line.
If the marker will have no leader, click once to place it.
