To insert a window:
Click the tool and the appropriate insertion and alignment modes.
Windows can be inserted into the drawing in the standard way or inserted into the wall with an offset; to use offset insertion, see Offset symbol insertion mode.
Alternatively, if placing a curtain wall window into a curtain wall, select a panel with the Edit Wall tool, and then right-click on the panel and select Insert Window from the context menu. The window is automatically inserted as a curtain wall window.
Do one of the following:
Click Window Style on the Tool bar to select a resource from the Resource Selector.
Individual manufacturer catalog items cannot be selected from the catalog using the Resource Selector; see Concept: Plug-in object styles and catalog items.
Click Preferences to open the Window Preferences dialog box and specify the tool’s default parameters; see Window settings.
The parameters can be edited later from the Object Info palette.
Click to set the insertion point of the window. For windows in a wall, a window preview displays with handing indicators to set the window's orientation in the wall, and indicating the window's interior side for reference. See Interactive handing of windows for more information about the visual handing cues. If a window is inserted outside a wall, the orientation previews, but the handing indicators do not display.
Move the cursor to insert the window with the needed orientation, and click again to place the window. The handing-related parameters are set to match the window as drawn.
The orientation of a window inserted in a wall can be changed later with the Selection tool.
Several features of the window, including trim, shutters, wall wrap parts, and so on, are described as "interior" or "exterior." These elements are located based on the Interior Side setting on the window's General pane
If you are inserting a corner window, place the window in a wall that is attached to another wall. Once parameters are set, the window moves to the nearest corner automatically. This represents one half of the corner window assembly.
Optionally, create a style resource from an unstyled object (see Custom plug-in object styles with catalog options).
