Editing a title block border

There are two ways to edit title block borders: editing an existing object's parameters in the Object Info palette or Title Block Border Settings dialog box, and Editing a title block layout using object editing mode. Object editing mode for title block borders has extended capabilities that permit text objects to be linked to title block border data records so they update automatically as record data is changed; see Linking title block text to data records.

To create a custom title block, you may opt to begin with an existing style that closely resembles the title block needed, convert the object to unstyled, and then edit the parameters and layout.

Title block border properties

Most title block border parameters can be edited directly from the Object Info palette. To customize the parameters that display on the Shape tab, click Data Display Settings, and select the desired parameters, as described in the table below.

To edit all available title block border parameters from the Title Block Border Settings dialog box, do one of the following:

Click Title Block Border Settings from the Object Info palette.

Click Sheet Data or Project Data to open the Title Block Border Settings dialog box with that pane active.

Right-click the object and select Edit from the context menu (or double-click the object). From the Edit Title Block Border dialog box, click Settings and select the pane to edit.

Editing project-wide data from the Title Block Border Settings dialog box or the Object Info palette affects all title block borders in the file.

For title block borders using plug-in object styles, the parameters that are set by style display for informational purposes but cannot be edited from the Title Block Border Settings dialog box or the Object Info palette.

The title block border parameters are described in Title block border settings. Only the parameters that are different are described here.

Data Display Settings

Opens the Title Block Data Display Settings dialog box, where the title block border parameters that display on the Shape tab of the Object Info palette can be customized.

In the dialog box, click the disclosure arrows as needed to display the parameters in each group in the Data column, and then click to place a check mark in the Display column for the parameters to display. The selection applies only to the active file, and to all title block borders in the file. To save a parameter set to be used as the default selection for new documents, click Save as Default.

For users with Design Suite, the Number of Revisions/Issues to Display in the Title Block Border Settings dialog box Revision Data and Issue Data panes determine how many revisions/issues are displayed for parameters in the Revision Data/Issue Data sections.

Activate title block

Includes this sheet in automatic sheet number and page number calculations; only active title blocks are included, to prevent inactive or unused sheets from accidental inclusion.

This parameter can be selected or deselected for multiple title blocks at once in the Title Block Manager (Design Suite product required). Alternatively, create a report with the Activate title block field displayed, and edit the field directly from the worksheet; see Creating reports and Editing worksheets.
