Vectorworks can import files in FBX format; 3D geometry and materials from FBX files are imported into Vectorworks as mesh objects, and retain the object hierarchy of the source file.
To import an FBX file:
Select the command, and then the file to import.
Alternatively, click the file to import and drag it into an open Vectorworks file.
The Import FBX Options dialog box opens.
Specify the file import options.
Click to show/hide the parameters.Click to show/hide the parameters.

Select an existing layer, or select New Design Layer to create a new layer for the imported object |

Select an existing class, or select New Class to create a new class for the imported object |

Imports basic FBX material data and assigns colors or textures to imported objects |

Import transparency and image data as Renderworks textures |
Creates Renderworks textures from FBX materials that contain an image map and/or transparency data |

Create Renderworks textures for all materials |
Creates Renderworks textures from all FBX materials, even if they contain only a solid color |
|
Mesh smoothing |
Select how mesh smoothing is applied to imported mesh objects. Select Custom Crease Angle to define the Crease angle for the imported objects; enter a value between 0 and 180. Select Use Document Settings to use the crease angle as defined in the document settings; for more information, see Document preferences: Display tab. Select None to not use mesh smoothing. |

Import as symbol |
Imports the file contents as a symbol definition in the Resource Manager; for more information, see Resource Manager and Concept: Vectorworks symbols |

Units |
Select the Vectorworks units for imported geometry, so the objects' size matches the document's scale |
