Editing a title block border

There are two ways to edit title block borders: editing an existing object’s parameters in the Object Info palette or Title Block Border Settings dialog box, and Editing a title block layout using object editing mode. Object editing mode for title block borders has extended capabilities that permit text objects to be linked to title block border data records so they update automatically as record data is changed; see Linking title block text to data records.

To create a custom title block, you may opt to begin with an existing style that closely resembles the title block needed, convert the object to unstyled, and then edit the parameters and layout.

Title block border properties

To edit title block border parameters in the Title Block Border Settings dialog box, click Title Block Border Settings from the Object Info palette, or click Sheet Data or Project Data to open the Title Block Border Settings dialog box with that pane active. Alternatively, right-click the object and select Edit from the context menu and then click Settings and select the pane to edit.

Some of the main parameters of title block border objects can also be edited directly from the Object Info palette.

For title block borders using plug-in object styles, the parameters that are set by style display for informational purposes but cannot be edited from the Title Block Border Settings dialog box or the Object Info palette.

The title block border parameters are described in Title block border settings. Only the parameters that are different are described here.

Activate title block

Includes this sheet in automatic sheet number and page number calculations; only active title blocks are included, to prevent inactive or unused sheets from accidental inclusion.

This parameter can be selected or deselected for multiple title blocks at once in the Title Block Manager (Design Suite required). Alternatively, create a report with the Activate title block field displayed, and edit the field directly from the worksheet; see Creating reports and Editing worksheets.
