Previsualization with Showcase
Command |
Workspace: Path |
Start Showcase End Showcase |
Design Suite: Entertainment > Showcase Spotlight: Spotlight > Showcase |
The Start Showcase command activates a special Showcase rendering mode for the drawing or the active view pane, with the settings established in the Showcase preferences. The DMX objects are connected to the specified physical or virtual console and ready to receive signal input, or ready to play a selected DMX recording from the DMX Recording palette.
To exit Showcase and return to the drawing window, select End Showcase. Moving objects return to their home positions.
While Showcase is active:
If you were in Top/Plan view when selecting the command, the view switches to Top.
Lighting devices, DMX-controlled trusses or objects, and video screens are controlled by their DMX connections and video sources, or by the DMX recording. Lighting devices and trusses may move drastically depending on their DMX data for position and orientation.
Shaded rendering mode is in effect in the active layer, based on the Showcase preferences settings. Light brightness, color, spread, pan, tilt, gobo textures, and moving gobo wheel effects are shown as specified.
Moving objects cannot be selected while Showcase is active.
Move sliders on the connected console, or play a DMX recording; lights move and change to match the input. Vectorworks viewing tools, such as Pan, Zoom, Flyover, Walkthrough, and Onscreen View Control adjust the view with variable framerates during the operations.
Lighting devices respond to DMX data consistent with the GDTF file specification they are assigned to. Light brightness, color, spread, pan, tilt, gobo textures, and moving gobo wheel effects are shown.
Record the actions with the DMX Recording palette for playback later.
Actions that stop the simulation:
Changing the visibility of a class or layer that contains moving objects.
Changing the view to Top/Plan or switching to a different render mode.
Switching to a sheet layer.
Entering a group or symbol definition.
Modifying moving objects, including modifying objects from another view pane.
