The Stair tool creates a stair based on a selected stair configuration or resource, and stair settings for geometrical and other values. There are two methods for creating a stair:
Insert a stair based on the stair configuration and stair settings values entered in the dialog box; see Inserting a stair.
Draw a shape to define the stair's outer boundaries, which will be used with the configuration and other stair settings values to calculate the stair; see Drawing a stair with Corner to Corner mode, Drawing a stair with Three Point Rotated mode, and Drawing a stair with Vertex mode.
Mode |
Description |
Standard Insertion |
Inserts a stair with the parameters specified in Stair Settings |
Corner to Corner |
Draw the rectangular outer boundary of a stair by clicking two diagonal points; this mode can draw only stairs that are aligned with the X and Y axes |
Three Point Rotated |
Draw the rectangular outer boundary of a stair that is rotated by a specific angle |
Vertex |
Draw a polyline to represent the left or right edge of a stair. Click Left Control Line mode or Right Control Line mode to place the stair relative to the polyline. |
Pick Up |
Picks up selected attributes from a stair to be transferred to another stair; attributes are selected in the stair preferences |
Apply |
Transfers selected attributes from one stair to another; attributes are selected in the stair preferences and picked up in Pick Up mode |
Left Control Line |
For Vertex mode, stairs are drawn along their left sides |
Right Control Line |
For Vertex mode, stairs are drawn along their right sides |
Height of Stair (3D views only) |
For Corner to Corner mode, Three Point Rotated mode, and Vertex mode, sets the top/bottom border of a stair with a mouse click, and overrides the total rise setting in stair settings; see Manually setting the total rise of a stair |
Update |
Updates all stairs in the drawing, which is necessary when layer scale has changed and a change to the stair’s schematic representation is also required |
Stair |
Opens the Resource Selector to select a stair symbol for placement; double-click a resource to activate it |
Preferences |
Opens the Stair Settings dialog box, to set default stair parameters |
