Editing a door and window assembly layout
When the door and window assembly layout is set by instance, you can customize the layout in object editing mode. The Assembly Edit tool palette, which is only visible when in object editing mode for a door and window assembly, provides tools that add, remove, or edit individual parts of an assembly, including frames and mullions; door, window, and other units; and accessories including lintels, sills, and more. The Pan, Flyover, and Tape Measure tools are also available to assist with navigation and placement. When in assembly layout editing mode, all other tool palettes are disabled, and only the Assembly Edit palette's tools can be used.
You can reshape individual objects within an assembly in object editing mode, and those changes can change the shape of the layout overall; however you may find it more effective to reshape the overall assembly in the design layer using the Reshape tool, and then edit the layout. For especially complex assembly layouts, it may be most efficient to create an assembly based only on the overall shape, and then use the editing tools to add the parts as needed.
To edit an assembly layout:
Do one of the following:
In the Door and Window Assembly Style dialog box, click Edit Door and Window Assembly Layout.
On the Object Info palette of an assembly with the layout set by instance, click Edit Assembly Layout.
Double-click or right-click an assembly with the layout set by instance, select Edit from the context menu, and then Layout on the Edit Door and Window Assembly dialog box.
Object editing mode opens, and the Assembly Edit palette is available. When opened from an assembly in the drawing, the initial view is the same as the design layer when object editing mode was opened. However, regardless of the object's position in the design layer, the Front view in object editing mode always shows the exterior side of the assembly, and the other standard views are relative to that front view.
In object editing mode, add, edit, or delete assembly parts as described in Editing objects in a door and window assembly, Adding units to a door and window assembly, and Adding accessories to a door and window assembly.
