Copying external plant data
Add to or overwrite the data in an existing plant style, by copying data from a Vectorworks partner nursery that specializes in providing accurate plant data for its region.
To copy external plant data:
Do one of the following.
On the Species and Data pane of the Edit Plant Style dialog box, click Copy External Data.
In the Plant Style Manager, click the Menu icon beside the plant style to edit, and select Copy External Data.
The Copy External Data web palette opens. The first time the palette opens in a file, it displays the plant nursery websites available for the region of your Vectorworks license.
Click on a nursery website to select it and browse its available plants. The nursery's catalog opens within the web palette. Use the website's search and navigation functions to locate a plant, and then click to select it. Later, if the palette was open to a nursery website, the same website opens.

Map the external data to the Vectorworks plant style parameters.
Some of the nursery's data is automatically mapped to fields in the Vectorworks plant style. For unmapped data, or to change the default mapping, use the Map to option to specify the plant style parameter to map the data to; only parameters that are not currently mapped are available in the list, to prevent double mapping. Use the search field to filter the list of available options. Additional mapping features include:
Entering values manually: Some sources include multiple parameters in a single block of information, which can't be directly mapped to the Vectorworks plant style parameters. For example, the height and spread may be provided in a single line item in the source. In that case, select <manual value>; select the parameters to map, and enter the value for each.
Selecting a specific plant from an available assortment: Nurseries may list a single species in several sizes and forms. Click the disclosure area under Assortment, and select the specific plant needed. Its values can then be mapped.
If the website has images of the plant, these can also be mapped.
The mapped data is added to the plant style. If the plant style is associated with the plant catalog or plant database and Update the Plant catalog with Vectorworks Plant style changes or Update the Plant Database with Vectorworks Plant style changes is selected in the Choose Plant Data Source dialog box, the new data automatically updates the catalog/database.
