The Space Area Manager lets you create and maintain a custom set of detailed space areas in your file, so that you can assign them to space objects. You can easily export and import space area libraries, to improve consistency and efficiency in your projects.
To open the Space Area Manager:
Do one of the following:
Click the tool and then click Preferences. On the Space Area pane, click Space Area Library Manager.
Select one or more existing space objects and click Space Area Library from the Object Info palette.
The Space Area Manager dialog box opens. This dialog box has specialized functions to sort, select, and edit its list items; see List box functionality.

Lists all space area calculation rule sets in the current file and their classes |

Space areas in library |
Lists space area calculation rule sets accessible in external files in libraries and their classes; select the Space Area Library to use; rename it if needed for use in the file |

New/Edit |
Opens the Detailed Space Area Settings dialog box to create a new detailed space area rule set or edit the selected item; see Detailed space area settings. This information can be used for data tags, room finish schedules, data visualizations, and custom reports. |

Duplicate |
Adds a duplicate of the selected space area to the library; locate the duplicate entry in the list and edit the name if desired |

Delete |
Deletes the selected space area rule set from the library. If the area is currently in use in the document, you're prompted to replace it with another selected area, if desired. |

Add to Document |
Allows you to select a space area in an external library to add to the document |

Save as |
Opens a dialog box to save the space area list as an external library file. Enter a name for the library, and select one or more locations to save it to. |
Add the space area rule sets you need to the file. You can create space areas as well as add them from external libraries. For convenience, Vectorworks provides a library of space areas that meet various international standards, which you can edit to add data.
When you add a space area with the New or Add to document button, the text of the added area is green, so that you can easily identify what's new.
Each space area must have a unique name value. If a name is a duplicate of another in the list, it displays in red. You cannot save the list until you correct duplicate names.
