Use the Detailed Space Area Settings dialog box to create and edit detailed space area calculation rule sets that combine how each subarea affects the total space area. Each file can contain multiple rule sets to meet a variety of required standards, and can be used to create a range of reports, from IFC calculations to material take offs.
To open the Detailed Space Area Settings dialog box:
Do one of the following:
Click the tool and then click Preferences. On the Space Area pane, click New or Edit under Detailed Space Areas.
Select one or more existing space objects and, then click Settings on the Object Info palette. On the Space Area pane, click New or Edit for a selected area under Detailed Space Areas.
Select one or more existing space objects and, with a space area selected under Select Space Area, click Edit Selected Space Area from Space Area section of the Object Info palette.
The Detailed Space Area dialog box opens. Most panes provide a schematic plan and schematic section clarifying which parts are controlled on that pane.
For objects to be included in the calculation based on their size, select one of the following comparison operators.
Greater than
Less than
Greater than or equal to
Less than or equal to
Equal to
These document-wide settings apply to all spaces in the file, except for the settings that must be controlled by individual space polygons.

Size parameters |
When adding only the niches that fit the specified size, select the parameters to include in the calculation, the comparison operator for each parameter, and enter the measurement. For Height (8), select the height reference, and add or subtract any needed offset. |

Confining parameters |

When considering only the walls that fit the specified size, select the parameters to include in the calculation, the comparison operator for each parameter, and enter the measurement. |

For confined walls, to count part of the wall's footprint, select the reference for the space area's depth limit |

For each category, enter the deduction factor as a percentage for the space area modifier |

Graphic Attributes |
Lists space area geometry that has graphic attributes settings. The class and graphic attributes of each part of the object are displayed. Double-click a line to set attributes for the part; see The Attributes palette. To control appearance and visibility, select a class from the list of classes present in the drawing, or create a new class. Select <Space Class> to place the category in the same class as the space object. |
