You can edit an individual grid line, a multiple selection of grid lines, or an entire grid sequence. To edit, move, resequence, or dimension all the grid lines in a grid sequence collectively, first right-click on a grid line and select Select Grid Sequence from the context menu.
The following edits are possible:
● Manually use the grid line’s handles to rotate or move the grid line, or to edit the grid line’s path, shoulder, and optionally elbows; see Editing a grid line’s path.
● Change the grid line’s style or edit the grid line’s parameters; see Grid line properties.
● Edit the graphic layout and attributes of the grid line’s bubble, and edit the text, including dynamic text; see Editing the grid line bubble layout.
● Resequence a selection of grid lines or an entire grid sequence; see Resequencing grid lines.
● Dimension grid lines on the design layer or grid line instances in a viewport; see Dimensioning a grid sequence.
The visibility and appearance of grid line instances in a viewport can be edited as described in Structural grid visibility in viewports and Grid line instance visibility in viewports without changing the grid line definition object on the design layer. However, the grid line’s location and labels can be edited only from the grid line definition on the design layer.
The following tools can be used to modify grid lines:
● Offset tool
● Move by Points tool
The following tools and commands may cause unexpected results and cannot be used to edit grid lines:
● Clip tool
● Fillet tool
● Chamfer tool
● Trim tool
● Connect/Combine tool
● Split tool
● Create Symbol command
Because each grid line must have a unique identifier, grid lines cannot be a part of a symbol definition. If you attempt to create a symbol that includes a grid line, it will be converted to a group.
