Site Planning

Drawing curbs manually allows you to place a curb anywhere you need; a curb drawn this way follows the surface of the site model or other eligible 3D objects it's placed over. Drawing a curb manually is also recommended when the curb needs to act as a site modifier, so that other objects such as hardscapes can be aligned with it.

To draw a curb manually:

Click the tool and mode.

Do one of the following:

Click Curb Style on the Tool bar to select a resource from the Resource Selector.

Click Preferences to open the Curb Preferences dialog box and specify the tool's default parameters (see Curb preferences). The parameters can be edited later from the Object Info palette.

Click Vertex mode and click the appropriate polyline creation mode in the Tool bar to draw the curb's path. Vertices like Bézier and Cubic are not suitable for the curb configuration.

Click to set the curb's start point.

Click to set the end of the segment and the beginning of the next. Continue drawing segments in this matter until the curb is complete. Double-click, or click on the first vertex, to complete the curb.

The front edge of a curve drives the curb's geometry. When drawing a curve, make sure there is a vertex at every change of direction for the curb parts to be assembled correctly.

The curb is drawn along the path, using the specified settings. When Use edge modifier is selected in curb preferences, red lines indicate the front and back edges of the curb's main component.

Optionally, create a style resource from an unstyled object (see Custom plug-in object styles without catalog options).
