Design SuiteEditing a grade

You can edit a grade object by editing the elevation or other calculated parameters, by reshaping it in Top/Plan view, and by moving the labels and/or direction arrows. You can also edit parameters, including changing the site model the grade is connected to and the appearance of the grades (see Grade settings).

Select all grades in a network by clicking Select all Grades from the Network on the Object Info palette of one of the grades. Use Multiple Edit and Individual Edit modes on the Object Info palette to advance through a series of networked grades, editing each in turn; see Editing multiple objects.

If the elevation changes after one or more grade objects have been placed, there is no need to replace the existing grade objects. Change the elevation of one end of a grade object, or offset the elevation of selected (or all) grade objects in the drawing.

To edit grade object elevation:

Click the tool and mode.

Click at the start or end of a grade object.

The Edit Elevation dialog box opens; edit the grade.

Reshape

Basic

Use the Reshape tool in Top/Plan view to move the grade's handles. Select a single grade to edit, click Select All Grades from the Network on the Object Info palette, or see Marquee modes to select specific handles in a network to edit. Click the needed mode, and move the handle(s) as described in 2D reshape modes.

When you move a handle, the floating Data bar displays all the known and calculated parameters; these update as you move the handle, or you can tab into the floating Data bar and assign specific values to each parameter (see Drawing with the Data bar). The known value assigned to the selected handle is editable, as are the calculated parameters. The known value assigned to to the handle not being edited is generally not available to edit, unless a significant reshaping of the grade requires a change. Calculations for connected grades in a network are handled more cautiously than individual grades, to avoid an unintentional chain reaction through an entire grade network. For connected grades, only one of the elevations is automatically given a new value, and the slope must be updated.

Editing a grade's appearance

Set the display and attributes of direction indicators for all grades in the file from the Direction Indicator pane of the Grade Settings; see Grade settings: Direction Indicator pane.

To edit the appearance of the elevation point data tags, edit the data tag style; see Creating data tag styles.

From the Graphics pane of the Grade Settings, change the appearance of elevation points and data tags, and to select which slope and line values to include for individual grades; see Grade settings: Graphics pane. You can also set attributes for individual lines and text in the Attributes palette; if grade uses a complex line type that includes arrows, the arrows change direction as needed so they always point in a downward slope.

Directional indicators have separate handles for the text label and for the arrow. With the Selection tool active, click a handle to move the associated indicator part, and click again to place it.
