Use the Door tool, Window tool, and Door and Window Assembly tool to create objects based on a style resource and/or the parameters specified in the preferences dialog box. The objects can be created in Top/Plan view or in a 3D view. There are different methods for creating any of these objects:
Click to insert an object based on a style or the parameters in the preferences dialog box; see Inserting doors, windows, and assemblies.
Draw the object manually using a style or the parameters in the preferences dialog box; see Drawing doors, windows, and assemblies.
Door and window assemblies can be created from existing doors/windows, or from a closed 2D shape; see Creating a door and window assembly from existing objects. Although you can use the Door and Window Assembly tool to create an assembly, creating it from existing doors and windows in a wall is the recommended method.
To place a door or window into a curtain wall, use the Edit Wall tool; see Editing curtain wall panels. The object is automatically placed as a curtain wall door/window. The door/window's selected style or preferences are used as much as possible, while fitting the object within the curtain wall grid. Assemblies can be used as repeated elements in a curtain wall.
The same modes are available for all three tools.
